Who is a leader?

There are lot many definitions for the leader. In a nutshell, it can be concluded as, “A leader is a person who has passion and inspiration, to followers’ bond with”. Apart from the above many wordings of leader.

Good leaders share a level of brilliance that enables them to inspire the masses toward new ideas and innovations. leader is the one in charge, the person who convinces other people to follow. A great leader inspires confidence in other people and moves them to action. A leader is the head guy or gal, the one running the show. (tm, n.d.)

A leader empowers their team members to embrace their own unique leadership qualities and act with independently accountable passion. And they inspire and motivate their teams to maintain long-term progress and excitement toward achieving their goals. (Waters, 2022-10-26)  

Kendal Drew – Leadership and career coach has narrated in her article some definitions for leader. “As far back as 496BC, Sun Tzu, a Chinese general, was quoted as saying ‘A leader leads by example, not by force’. A modern take by Charles S Lauer is ‘Leaders don’t force people to follow, they invite them on a journey’. (Drew, 2021-6-9)


A       leader is "a person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal". A mnemonic for this definition would be 3P's - Person, People, and Purpose as illustrated by the following diagram.

While in a way the position of leader and manager is debatable topic. Young or old in any age anyone can be a leader. But all the managers are not leaders, and all the leaders are not managers.

Delegation is a skill that requires practice and refinement.
